I’m a devoted fan of all his work. A lifelong legacy of American heartland stories. I’ve listened to his Lake Woebegone tales over & over and I never tire of entering this imaginary world which always feels like going home. I’m so glad he continues to spin ideas and images to enrich our...Read full review »

Loved your interview on the Garage Logic podcast. Listened to all of it and loved every minute. Will try to catch one of your live appearances. Would love to listen to PHC shows from years past if available on You Tube or similar service. Thanks for making yourself available.

When Garrison Keillor used to do the closing monologue on his Prairie Home Companion show, I used to describe it as narration performed by someone who is easing into a wonderfully hot bath. His relaxing style was a magnificent end to an extremely well produced show. It was consequently such a...Read full review »

“Getting high lowers alertness. Go back and read Beat poetry written in dim smoke-filled rooms and most of it is less interesting than the average computer manual.” Stick to talking about writers, Garrison. Cultural criticism is not your strong suit.

And as you say, anger dies, genius endures. I believe so, here we have a show of worth, plain, unadulterated, unhurried. We must be mad to buy into anything else. Great stuff from the hearts of so few. GK is my notion of Santa.

I have been listening to TWA since my college years ago wayyy back when dinosaurs roamed the earth before Twitter even came about—and it fell off my radar because life happens, you know? But I rediscovered it a few years back and it still hits me on some level that no other podcast has except for...Read full review »

Thank you for what has been a morning tradition for decades. Whether it is an anecdote to refresh my connection with the human condition, recounting significant historical events, this ‘cast gives me an excuse to sit back and listen on a daily basis. I’ve enjoyed Garrison for decades , but the incessant 90 second alcohol ads at the end of each episode are a brash turnoff. Can you please tone back the ads a little please ?

I love writers almanac but recently I noticed the speed of your voice sounds like the sound person is doing a disservice. Please kick it back to 1.0 The new voice sounds like an attempt to make you sound higher energy. It sound to me like you’re working towards Alvin the chipmunk.

It has been a long wait getting back to The Writer’s Almanac for me….this was my accompaniment as I prepared my evening meal, relishing every word of Garrisons smooth steady voice as I quietly listened to others biographies and poems which inspired me to be a better writer.

One of the podcasts I can’t go a day without hearing. In an instant, I am home again at the sound of his voice. And I always learn something I didn’t know about. How can you go wrong with that?

So happy to learn about this podcast—Billy Collins mentioned it on his live get together on Facebook. (And learned about Mr. Collins activities from Diane Rehm’s podcast!) I always listened to Prairie Home Companion on NPR and now find Garrison’s voice very calming during this “Year of the COVID.”

Among the best 5 minutes of every day: some new literary facts, a new poem, but always the melodic (bass) tones and lilting cadence of Mr Keillor. Thank you for helping combat 2020 depression and angst.

I have been a fan and a long time supporter, but i was flabbergasted to hear Trump misinformation ads. The ad was deliberately divisive and inaccurate.
