When it comes to storytelling, it’s very easy to get lost. You don’t know where to start, what info you should be consuming/studying, etc. There’s a lot to unpack. We all know that stories have a beginning, middle and end, but don’t necessarily understand the minutia of how to translate that into...Read full review »

He’s that prof you have in university who’s very knowledgeable and well worded but is so boring and monotone that it’s a struggle to get through. I have a feeling he’s an over writer.

Just listened to the first episode. Loved how Tyler explained the “why” of this podcast, how he feels what great stories should do, how philosophical conflicts in stories help us expand our world views. Superb episode. Will continue to explore this.

I wanted to like this, and the host is both thoughtful and eloquent, but it tends towards abstraction and would benefit from a greater peppering of concrete examples and yes, dare I say, a more condensed essential understanding of the craft. As it is this meanders to its points - none of which so...Read full review »

Not worth your time if you are looking for complete content. I used to be a big fan of his work but this is ridiculous. You are better off looking elsewhere for content that does not leave you hanging with more questions than answers.

His method definitely works for getting your keys across the finish line on the final page. His understanding of storytelling &...Read full review »

My only complaint is there isn’t anymore podcast to listen to quite like this one. He talks about legitimate ideas and themes and what’s actually under the surface of stories. You can learn all the rules, all the principles and all the tricks but without deep and meaningful ideas and themes it’s...Read full review »

I listened to the first podcast. What I took away from is it, my take at least, if genius is simple and the alternative is a “mess”, is it a good idea, to keep a journal. In that journal, should writers just focus on ideas and choices that affect them personally and then explore their personal...Read full review »

There are so many podcasts to listen to these days, so I wasn’t sure what was going to be so unique about this one. Two episodes in and I can see that this is something MUCH different. It’s more than just screenwriting jargon. It’s about the PURPOSE of writing. It’s already gotten me thinking...Read full review »
