Hard To Enjoy
I wanted to like this podcast, there are so few Mad Men Podcast that have made it this far through the episodes. My first complaint is that the two hosts bicker way too much. Half of their analysis is them going back and forth with usually one of them being totally off base. My second complaint is their handling of topics of race. Between them making the argument that it’s harder to be a woman in American than it is to be Black ( going so far to use a Shirley Chisholm quote with zero nuance, completely misinterpreting it) and several similar debacles about other scenes (yes, England was racist in the 60s). These two are out of touch and a bad match as cohosts.

Great and thought-provoking discussions between the two hosts, but the inconstant sound quality some times makes it impossible to listen to.

This is a great exploration and analysis for anyone who likes or is interested in Mad Men, the hosts are extremely well informed and lovely to listen to.

The analysis of this show is so excellent that I am only taking one star off for the fact that that hosts don’t seem to like each other, at all. Worth a listen, especially you’re not particularly sensitive to interpersonal dynamics (but if you’re not you may not like Mad Men anyway).
