The things we need to hear
We need to be told that our first games are (in the broad sense) going to stink a bit. But that experience is valuable and you need many iterations and attempts before it all falls together into a great thing worth sharing. Features from the failures will show up later in other game designs when they can be utilized in a way that is more fun than that first thing that was cool but without any draw or staying power. We need to know critical feedback is a good thing. And we need to know that top designers throw out their plans all the time and redo them or move onto the next project even when they were sure it was going to work as is. 100 different playtest groups all independently telling you it isn’t there for them as is has to be a shocking disappointment but is what an aspiring designer needs to be ready for. I look forward to the debates and challenges it takes to get my first game published and with a better end result than I started with for sure.

More reviews of Think Like A Game Designer
I’m not even a game guy, but I figured I would check this podcast out. As a visionary and implementer in my own company, many points resonate here, even if it regarding a different industry. Looking forward to the next one. Nice work Mr Gary
