We discuss the achievements of two highly influential retail innovators.  Harry Selfridge (1858 - 1947) was an American who created the great department store in Oxford Street, London which carries his name.  Ingvar Kamprad (1926 - 2018) was the Swedish entrepreneur who created IKEA and built it into a huge global brand while retaining its frugal Swedish culture.
