“I consider myself pretty liberal but this podcast has gone too far left for my liking. This really hit home when Kinsey mentioned eliminating the mortgage interest deduction on her most recent episode. As a tax CPA who spent a few years preparing tax returns and as someone who just bought their first home at 26, this is a tax deduction that helps so many more people than just the ultra wealthy. A lot of my clients used this and they were making less than 100k a year and that deduction allowed them to save some money on taxes. Yes the tax code needs to be reformed and the rich need to pay more, but that would make taxes for anyone that owns a home (including me) pay more in taxes when the tax increases should be focused further up the chain.
Best of luck Kinsey, please do proper research before making large scale claims like that. There are much more effective ways to target ultra wealthy people to pay more in tax as opposed to doing a broad scale approach that would impact those earning less than 100k a year (such as me).”
