“This podcast is powerful and packs a tremendous punch. It is impossible to listen to these stories from the master storyteller and veteran, Elliott Woods, and not be changed. Personally, I was humbled, broken, and inspired by these stories. Until now, however, I was never sure about why a friend of mine came back from the Iraq war a different man: Quieter, angrier, and jaded. He eventually moved on and has a family now, but he struggled for a long time in civilian life. One thing I never had the courage to do was ask him about why he was so profoundly influenced by what happened over there. What was it that was so awful that nobody could dare ask? Now I understand and I’m so glad I resisted the temptation to satisfy my curiosities. My respect is solidified, my gratitude is deepened, and my weekly podcast experience is now bordering on scared.
