Probably the best podcast series I’ve listened to, and I’ve listened to hundreds. This is extremely well presented and produced, and the story/stories are incredibly compelling.

I knocked out this whole series in two days! I’ve known and worked with one of the guys profiled for years and feel like Elliott did a great job of capturing him in this series. I highly recommend!

I never had a tour in Afghanistan but I had three in Iraq. I had several very good friends command in both. I also lost very good friends in both Theaters. This was extremely emotional to listen to. I don’t/didn’t know any of these people but I am all too familiar with people like them. Every...Read full review »

Incredible journalism, I could not stop listening to this podcast! Raw and real, an eye opening (and sometimes tear-inducing) examination of the true costs of war.

Hands down the best podcast on capturing the minds of our servicemen and women in this case marines. It’s so raw and real and this is the reason aside from the gratitude we owe these guys we owe them the listen too. Glad I found it.

This podcast has answered so many of my personal inquiries. What happened to the members of these squads? What did they think they were getting involved in? Returning home - what are they struggling with and how are they doing? I agree with Timothy that you were the only person who could and...Read full review »

I’m glad these guys have someone like you that they can talk to and you tell their stories the way they should be told and honored. My eyes were opened to so many things us civilians do and say to veterans that are totally disrespectful. I have enjoyed listening to this podcast. All of you and...Read full review »

A touching salute and well written and thought provoking story of the trials and tribulations of Third squad of the 5th Marines that didn’t make it back home and to the survivors who left their innocence in a harsh foreign land that most no longer knew why they were there. The penultimate episode of @thirdsquad is about a saintly stoner who volunteered to clear minefields for his fellow Marines. On a contact high, @elliottwoods explains straight up What Caused The War. A great series about Afghan vets then and now.

Binged all the episodes so far! Beautiful, moving and powerful in equal measure. Real insight into a life unknown to most of us, incredible interviews and really thoughtful commentary and access from Elliot Woods. Excellent.

One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The discussions between Elliot and the marines are incredible. The costs of war are immense and diverse, and this podcast explores the costliest part… what it did to the humans who fought that war for us. Extremely well done.

Powerful! For me, one of the backstories that Elliot Woods was able to deliver is the awareness that even though it’s the veteran who was deployed, loved ones also went to war.
