Luv JB and Luv This Podcast
I'm not sure when John Henderson's Jack Benny podcast started, but I began listening to it as soon as I discovered it a few months ago, and IMO it is great! I'm a huge JB fan, and I have been listening to him almost daily since 2005. I remember it being 2005, because that is the year I had an accident which eventually ended my working career. Jack Benny, Mary, Rochester, Kenny, Dennis, Don and everyone else who appeared on Jack's program did a wonderful job of lifting my spirits while I adjusted to my new non-working life. Initially, I ordered mp3's of all Jack's surviving radio programs, so I've listened to all of them, some (more than) multiple times, over the ensuing years. Now I mostly listen to JB podcasts, because the sound is vastly improved over the old mp3's I still have. To my knowledge, there are only two podcasts on iTunes that devote 100% of their podcast to Jack Benny, and John Henderson's podcast is one of them. There used to be a third podcast that was solely devoted to JB, but unfortunately, it has now introduced several other radio programs which share podcast time with Jack. It's my opinion that, of the two 100% JB podcasts, John's podcast is much better. His intros sometimes provide interesting explanations of such things as comments made by JB's cast during a broadcast. Just recently Jon played an episode referencing The Mikado, which I only knew to be a movie starring Kenny Baker. However, in that episode, Rochester made a comment connecting "The Mikado" to (I believe) swing music. To my surprise, besides being an operatic movie starring Kenny Baker, "The Mikado," was also presented in three other formats which included a broadway play, which I believe featured the swing music. Additionally, John often plays a sound bite from a movie or other event from the same time period as the episode he is about to present. Recently, John played a sound bite from a 1939 movie called "The Women,"just prior to presenting the JB program in which Jack and his male cast members comedically play the parts of women in their version of the same movie, "The Women." The sound bite that John played before Jack's episode helped me somewhat compare the two as well as identify Jack's version as a legitimate take-off on the actual movie. I will continue to listen to John Henderson's JB podcast and appreciate the extras he gives to his listening audience.. Thank you, feekieRead full review »

My darling daughter Mary, Just a line to say that your sister, Babe is trying to adjust the areal on the radio to pick up this podcast. It would be okay but I’m afraid she’ll drop the iPhone off of the roof while she’s up there and your father will have to spend another month hanging around the...Read full review »

I can’t even listen to Jack Benny on other podcasts anymore, because I get miffed when they don’t provide some contextual background for me, which I’ve now come to love and expect. You’ve spoiled me, Mr. Henderson!

They don’t make comedians like this anymore. I enjoy the clean humor and Jacks amazing timing
