I’ve binge listened to this podcast since stumbling across it! A very well recounted overview of the Plantagenets, who were a fascinating family. Highly recommended!

The title here is a reference to Game of Thrones, which it’s been said was inspired by the War(s) of the Roses. It’s hard to out do the real life shenanigans of House Plantagenet, though. I have been fascinated by this dynasty since I was about 13 and received the Avalon Hills game, Kingmaker,...Read full review »

There’s never a dull moment and definitely not a background noise podcast. You’ll be hooked and know Plantagenet family tree more than your own

Super interesting and super entertaining. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love Season 1 (almost finished), with only one irk. In a too short episode of 20 minutes, the ads take up 3-4 minutes. I’ll consider the “ever being reminded of” Subscriber $ further along, but it’s getting irritating enough trying to spend my 30 minutes of free time navigating...Read full review »

Dan jones narration is unparalleled and I subscribed to the full channel because I cannot get enough. Moved from the us to the uk recently and he’s given me such further insight into an area of history I thought I had a grasp on. What a treat! His research is flawless and he uses it to compel a...Read full review »

Fun and informative, but the writing/performance has become a parody of itself. Predictable. Singsong. Overproduced. With a lot of padding out the run time with useless descriptions and sound effects - they frequently duplicate each other, like something out of a see and sound book.

Riveting content explained by a truly gifted storyteller. This is History is the first and only podcast that I willingly subscribe to. Keep ‘em coming!

I knew vaguely about The Plantagenets but the last three days I have binged free episodes on every chance I had. If you like history this podcast will surely be a favourite pick.

One of my favourite historical podcasts. Have always enjoyed Dan Jones…. Incredible historian !

I Iove History and I know why. When I was in junior school we had a teacher who would sit us all down and tell History like it was story time. The drama, the gossip, the legends. This podcast makes me feel like I’m listening to Game of Thrones and I’m here for it. A genuine delight.

A great story well told by a gifted storyteller. However my understanding is that Henry and Eleanor’s “devil’s brood” were not known as the Plantagenets during their time. I am also disappointed that there is no mention of the Angevin Empire. /r James Angevine

This series about the Plantagenets is totally addictive. I’ve binged “listened” to the first 3 series and am now waiting each week for the next one to drop. I really recommend it to anyone with an interest in history. Dan brings it to life!

Dan Jones literally brings history to life!! He has great talent as a wordsmith, he’s descriptions are eloquent interspersed with humour, while his voice is hypnotic. I am torn between devouring and savouring the episodes.

Dan really brings the people of the time to life and makes the story a must binge show. Excellent work.

Dan Jones makes history come alive. I love the way he tells a story while keeping in line with the known facts. After he is done with the Plantagenets I hope he goes on to another era of British history. I love medieval history, this series makes me wonder why anyone wouldn’t. Brilliant...Read full review »

All history podcasts should be like this. The way it is narrated plays like a non fiction thriller while also being historically accurate. I just discovered it in the middle of season 3. I binge listened to seasons 1,2 and 3. I Couldn’t stop listening. Waiting for season four has been rough. Lol ...Read full review »

I’m loving this podcast! At some time in the distant past I studied this period and it was interesting enough. But now I’m beginning to actually get it. Great story telling, insights, speculations and research. And I still haven’t got to the end of Series 1!

I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is one of my favourites. I enjoy the bonus episodes which tell if the lives of actual people of the time. I have learnt a lot.

Found myself getting bored with the True Crime podcasts I listen to and was meaning to get in to this one for a while. Thoroughly enjoying the listen 👍

Like many have stated before, Dan Jones is a gifted storyteller. I’d never heard of him before I stumbled on this podcast. I’m too lazy to go into detail here, but I will say that these three seasons kept me happy for a few months. I listen to podcasts only when I’m in the car, and educational (in a totally fascinating way) podcasts are only when I have a clear head. Otherwise I have to rewind over and over. Dan Jones is a master at narration and storytelling. One of the things I love and appreciate about his podcast is he does not waste time with unnecessary speculation and editorializing. I am a big fan of Dan Jones’s work on the “bloodiest dynasty” and read CRUSADERS avidly during lockdown, so a lot of this material is not new to me. The descriptions and quotations and Eleanor fanboydom are great. I just found the episodes too short and the multiple subscriber-only ones therefore...Read full review »

Kudos to Dan Jones and the makers of this podcast! This is the first history podcast that I’ve not only been able to stick with, but that I’ve really enjoyed and in which I find myself completely engrossed! It covers an era that has never much interested me, but Dan Jones brings it to life. In...Read full review »
