“What a fascinating discussion that was for what I always felt was an uninspiring story, too. I had some thoughts from your thoughts. Firstly I thought it was the story of love, that despite their plans a girl will fall in love with who she wants to and be in an unreachable dreamy state until she settles in to her relationship. Then I wondered if her parents, in those days, knew they would have to offer her up in an arranged marriage and didn’t want to and that it said while an arranged marriage can be long and unhappy, one day you’ll find happiness in life.
I also thought maybe it was a myth covering the end of a matriarchal time. The wise women were saying they’re sidelined to an era of order, women’s value will be vaulted for a thousand years (let’s say), but one day men will allow women to wake up and be themselves again.
The thirteenth person is the leader, with twelve followers, like Jesus and his apostles.”
