This podcast reminds me: it’s okay I laugh outloud
My NEW favorite (for theme, structure, engaging guests, generous hosts, witty banter): Each episode has a guest, each (so far) with some connection to the hosts. Jeremy, the host’s first three guests are from his improv group; the fourth episode’s guest is Beto Barakmo, Maxine’s boyfriend, fellow Fime band member, and guitarist/songwriter (of some renown, check out Fime Band on YouTube for proof!) The theme is a (frequently violated or tangentially challenged) formula: Special Guest talks about music they grew up listening to > anecdote > crazy story about friends or family > wild tangent > host piles on tangent > courteous realignment to the topic > guest shares three songs that inspired him/her, or influenced and moved them > extreme guided tangent > guest exits stage left (we hope) > liner notes discussion (occasionally a pop knowledge quiz that Maxine Garcia starts well and is eventually doomed to crash and burn) > teaser for the next exciting episode (same Bat Channel) > fond farewell. I’m all in!

She states boldly that occasionally, they...Read full review »

After enjoying a full year's "slate" of episodes (11 to be exact), it is that final, season finale-ing, episode that NICELY (and, yes, sweetly), ties a pretty bow on Jeremy and Maxine's adventure in podcasting. Personal ratings: >Banter: never better >Concept: ...Read full review »
