I listen to thought for the day last thing before I go to sleep- and my favorite is Sir Mirvis. Every sentence has a deeper meaning. The warm, kind voice is like a comforting blanket, the message clear with hope for the world. Some sentences I write down. Pls come on air more often M Norway

I am a Christian but I find the contributions from a Jewish perspective very wise, kind, thoughtful and comforting- five stars for this when he and his colleagues contribute. I find some of the Christian commentators not in the same league!

We need to remember that King was a serial abuser of women, as well as the well known campaigner for black rights. An interesting mixture of good and bad, like all of us.

As Tommy Tiernan said, “You couldn’t hang your coat on that, never mind your soul.”

A brief yet thought provoking podcast that also gives an insight in to the commonality of differing faiths.

I like everything about this except the slight variety of perspectives. Christians far outnumber others, and I would love to also hear Neo-Pagans, humanists, Baha’i, Hindus, etc. What I love is the invitation to think on matters personal, social, and spiritual, and the reminder that not...Read full review »

Amongst all the trivia and ephemera in our day-to-day lives this short slot in the ‘Today’ Programme gives me the opportunity to reflect on the deeper and more meaningful aspects of life.

Blending the challenges of today with various faith traditions without being dogmatic. A breath of fresh air in today’s polarized world.

That's not sarcasm. This is an intentionally short podcast, clip from the BBC actually, that always seems to deliver more value per minute that its runtime might suggest.Read full review »

Great thought, however they need to be more in depth

I have no idea why the BBC continues to push superstitious nonsense in otherwise fact based programming. This should be shunted to the early hours of the morning, or better still, canned completely. There is a place for fantasy and myth, and that place is in children's books.Read full review »

There are different views on different subjects. Very interesting reflections.

Thought for the day is the worst slot on Radio 4, I'm surprised they've released it as a podcast. It just doesn't deliver - amateurish and no useful content. Maybe you could take it off the air and have it as a podcast only? That way it would be easier to avoid.Read full review »

There are plenty thoughts from those of a religious persuasion, but in the UK there are many who have no faith and who have truly inspiring things to say. Why are they discriminated against and excluded from contributing?

Why no humanists?

In a time where few take time to ponder much of anything these short pithy pieces are often insightful glimpses into higher thoughts. Worth the 2 minutes.

Ocassional insights, perpetual pap. I've decided to drop it now that they've decided that humanists aren't entitled to participate. Circle jerk of sanctimony.Read full review »

...a pause that enlightens... ...this podcast usually runs around four minutes. Yet dozens of speakers from different beliefs (even atheists) have something to offer the listener. The podcasts come in bunches, which is the only drawback. Give it a week - you won't be disappointed...Read full review »
