A treat to all aficionados of strategy
When determining some objective merit, ratings are inefficient. Given my own fondness for this podcast, I ought to award it the highest rating and be done with it. However, high production and decorum amongst the regular hosts are factors which lamentably need to be offset by the simple specificity of subjects which this podcast caters towards. 3MA is a curious podcast. It's origins of being the audio companion to a sliver of the old web, where small enthusiast blogs still had a basis on which to subsist. For better or for worse, that epoch has been left behind as a testiment to the whim of the web, yet 3MA survives, and is all the healthier and adaptable for it. Whilst yet another emblem of the "Two Men Talking" trend + guest ensemble, successor to the throne of 3MA honcho, Zachny, has nobly persisted in regaling the listeners with the experiences of a lifelong passion for strategy. Think of the aromas of garage mould and acrylic paint, or of the thick musk of musty carpets and the soothing hum of a grey box running Windows 98. Such are the comforting sensations a child of strategy will perhaps conjure to the forefront of memory upon sampling Three Moves Ahead. It is a humble life, where every mousy boy and girl dreamt of epaulettes and the lullaby of reverberating munitions. The dichotomy of the strategy gamer is alive with this podcast. Only the socially anxious philosopher kings of it's deluded embrace will understand it's esoteric lexicon. These were conceited words. I hope this is what you wanted Rob and Troy. You've helped keep the vigour alive for those tacticians impoverished by their adult lives with their understanding of the fields of virtual battle broad. few other podcasts provide heartfelt nattering with 'Nam survivors turned obscure boardgame creators, or balmy Scots propogating streets of red and delectable reefer madness. Shine on you magnificent diamond dogs.Read full review »

They always bring a good discussion to the table, and even though I am not a big strategy gamer, I still find myself listening. It is somewhat like listening as a spectator, I know I could never play these games well, but I love hearing about them..

The show presents excellent dicussions about subjects of strategy and tactical wargaming. If you are a strategy gamer enthusiast I highly encourage you to give this podcast a try. Hopefully with time the audio will be as good as the content since it could use some improvement.
