Pinnacle, the Mountain Top, the Precipice and the Edge of Podcasts
Being a chubby, short Korean Kid, there aren't many entertainers or celebrities that I could look up to or relate to. Bobby Lee was the first Korean-American I saw on Television. Out of necessity, I became a fan of his work. Anything Bobby Lee did, I supported. It wasn't hard with such great works as MadTV skits that have over a million views on YouTube to this day. Bobby Lee changed Asian Stereotypes by being Kenneth Park in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. His role was life changing for a 14 year old boy at the time. A nerd Ivy League Asian that was looking forward to being a financial advisor for a huge corporation. Then being the life of the party with hot chicks, drugs all around him. Also his mom brought him a huge container of kimchi jigae. I wanted to be like Bobby Lee. He knew how to make people laugh and he was popular. Nearly every Asian-American teenager in the 2000s knew who Bobby Lee was. Then came 2007, continuing to love and support Bobby Lee, no matter what he did. I eagerly bought a ticket to kickin' it old skool. I no longer wanted to ever be associated with Bobby Lee. I shamefully removed all my likes on his YouTube videos and unfollowed him on MySpace. Thankfully, Bobby Lee played a small part in Pineapple Express and continued to be the best on MadTV. I became a fan of his work again. I continued to support him, continuing to watch his movies and even minor appearances on K-Town Cowboys and various YouTube videos. It wasn't till October 30, 2013, that Bobby Lee became the greatest Korean/Asian - American comic to ever exist on planet Earth. October 30, 2013 was when his appearance on DVDASA was released online. That day changed my life, Bobby Lee made me cry with joy and laughter through his appearance on DVDASA. Podcasting/hosting a radio show was what Bobby Lee was truly made to do. Every appearance on DVDASA that Bobby Lee appeared on has been magical. There isn't an Asian on this planet that is funnier than Bobby Lee. On that first appearance, Bobby Lee made a list of requirements he needs in order to date someone. I personally thought Bobby Lee would never ever find anyone to fulfill his list. After hearing only stories of Khalyla through the filter of Bobby Lee, I wasn't sure if Bobby Lee was mentally insane. I didn't understand why he would put himself through a torturous relationship. Finally, on February 15, 2014, DVDASA episode 102 came out with Khalyla. I was completely stunned at how incredibly gorgeous Khalyla is. Her eyebrows were incredibly on point. Like a surgeon has crafted the perfect eyebrows for her. Her eyebrows look like they were photoshopped on her face because of how amazingly they look. Her brow game was so strong that if they competed in MMA, they would be the p4p champion of the UFC. Her face was flawless. Everything about her was stunning. Not only that, incredibly knowledge, intelligent, most importantly, possibly even funnier than Bobby Lee. The most amazing part is that Khalyla some how matched every requirement that was on Bobby Lee's list. Especially about the part of being a good, kind hearted person. Incredible. I understood why Bobby Lee wanted to be in a relationship with Khalyla, now I didn't understand why Khalyla wanted to be in a relationship with Bobby Lee. I quickly realized that both Bobby Lee and Khalyla are insane. Like all relationships, they have their ups and downs, twist and turns. After being able to hear both of them be very open with their lives, I realize that they truly love each other. This is one of the few relationships that I've been lucky enough to witness what true love is. It's not a fairytale love like Disney Movies, but it's the realest and rawest form of love. Being honest with one another about everything. Accepting one another for every flaw and imperfection. No relationship is ever perfect but Bobby Lee and Khalyla are perfect for each other in every way. TigerBelly is a podcast about a real relationship between one of the greatest comedians ever to live (the best Asian comedian ever) and possibly the coolest female to exist on this planet. Even through the worst times of their lives, TigerBelly talks about the moments that made them laugh and continue with life. Foreskin is a perfect addition/engineer to the show. As a third wheel, he adds enough to make TigerBelly an unique experience for the listeners. TigerBelly has been a treat to listen to every Wednesday. Hands down, the most entertaining and funniest podcast to still be on the air. I've always admired Bobby Lee but hearing about his relationship and life, this might be the first time that I am envious of Bobby Lee. I am a BabyBelly as long as I live. Thank you for taking your time to create an hour long show that entertains and gives hope to individuals that want to find love. TigerBelly is 5/5, the best.
