More significant and interesting interviews, less boring drivel about uphill policies
I really want to like this podcast, really I do, I'm a passionate backcountry skier and love podcasts, and really these guys are the only people doing a BBC ski podcast with any production value. I religiously listen to the enormocast (The host of the enormocast is the producer of this show), and hoped that the format of this show would be similar. However, it's not... Every show divulges into the same regurgitated, long winded, disengaging jokes. First is always about how it doesn't snow that much in Colorado (yeah, it's a continental snowpack, we get it). Then there's some self degrading story about the latest skimo race they went to and got spanked, instead of an interesting story of a racer, or the history of the event or the area it's just the lazy journalistic habit of "we'll make fun of ourselves and everyone will think it's funny". Lastly they talk about uphill policies at resorts, which is akin to having a rock climbing podcast that goes on for 15 minutes about the belay policies of the local gym, I mean no one cares, except people who live in your home town, and even they probably don't care. After all of this they usually get to an interview if someone interesting, which is the whole reason everyone presses play, they want to learn about interesting people in the global community of backcountry skiing. I gave them three stars because once they get to this section they tend to end up with some interesting content. If they skipped the first 20 minutes of every episode, and went straight into an interview with a well prepared interview with their guest, where they uncovered a story without interrupting and trivializing, they would have a great podcast. The right guests are there, the production quality is there, there just needs to be a bigger focus on telling a universal story.Read full review »

This is an excellent pod-cast that compliments the well established Enormocast. Having just moved to the front range from Kansas, the backcountry tips and tricks presented by the well experienced hosts and their guests afford a flat-lander some good advice as to where to turn when looking to get...Read full review »
