Description
This week on TRACK! We are delighted to be joined by one of the most exciting British talents around - Jake Smith. We are talking to Jake less than a week after he ran a marathon debut of 2.11.00 at the Cheshire Elite Marathon having originally been in the race scheduled to pace the lead group for 25km. Jake ran the time having ran a PB in the 1500m of 3.50.89 just a few days before and within the midst of a 90+ mile training week. Jake’s previous most well-known recent breakthrough performance came at the World Half Marathon Championships in Gydinia where he ran 60 minutes and 31 seconds to finish in 18th position and became the third fastest half marathon ever by a British athlete. Jake has also run times of 13.47 for 5,000m and is hoping to achieve the Olympic 10,000m qualifying standard and compete at the Olympic Trials in Birmingham on June 5th. At the club level, Jake runs for Cardiff AC and has recently been described as the future of UK distance running so we’re delighted Jake has taken some time out to chat all things running with us.
