TFD Great Debates: Are Calorie Deficits Real?
Listen now
Description
Today I am joined by TFD Dietitians Ryan Hasell and Lauren Nash and we are having a healthy discussion about whether or not calorie deficits are real or not.  This conversation was sparked by a video of a registered dietitian who posted a video saying that she does not believe in calorie deficits and this caused quite the debate amongst the medical and nutrition community.  In this episode we give our thoughts on it, we discuss the importance of language in communicating science, why using language such as calorie deficits is just not appropriate for certain clinical populations, the real science about calories and energy balance, and we discuss the big issue that is at the root of the entire debate that no one is really talking about.
