Really great addition to the true crime podcast offerings
This podcast does a great job of highlighting a crime (or series of crimes) while couching it in the cultural and historical contexts that are often lost in a world that exoticizes, generalizes, and infantilizes Asian countries into a vague monolith with a few facets at best. A particularly good example of this is episode 3 concerning Bhutan. It strips past the clickbait veneer of a country with a ‘happiness index’ and discusses the all too often overlooked ugliness behind nation-building (and, in this case, utopia-building) through the lens of a particular crimes. The only downside is the low quantity of episodes and their sparse distribution. Hopefully, stability in production will be achieved in the future because this podcast serves a good purpose in not only covering true crime in an undercovered part of the world, but in covering it with an eye towards breaking the stereotypes that many western purveyors may hold.

More reviews of True Crime Asia
A great pod about Asian crimes, well- written and presented. Victim-centred and pretty fascinating cases that you’ve probably never heard of.
