Too much moralizing; not enough story-telling.

I was initially excited to hear little reported details and learn more that could open my eyes to other possible narratives but I find it too biased. I like being exposed to different perspectives but I feel like most of what I’ve heard is from one point of view or is solely based on how someone...Read full review »

I love Celisia’s take on important topics and how she asks critical questions to really get the listener thinking. One of the best true crime podcast’s out there.

You have seriously got to be kidding me. You really just tried to blame racism on this man killing over 90 women. I couldn’t even finish the episode. My mind was blown at you trying to put that spin on it.. This man is no different from any other deranged murderer. I can’t believe what I just heard.

The music in the background is so distracting & annoying. Sometimes it sounds like a truck beeping while backing up & makes it hard to focus on content.

thanking the universe for this much-needed new voice in true crime and can’t wait for new eps. literally the first true crime podcast I’ve listened to that even dares to mention disability, decriminalizing sex work and trans justice (and I’ve listened to ‘em all). and to the person who gave the...Read full review »

Celisia is a really good narrator. Very smart story teller. Great voice.

The narration hurts my ears. They are literally fast-ramble-talking without coming up for air and I just couldn’t take anymore and had to stop. Will just look up the stories myself.

I listen to several true crime podcast but Truer Crime has quickly become a favorite. I love how she delves into the complexities of the crimes and illustrates how easy it is to judge without really understanding all the facts and the forces at work. I have been a true crime fan for decades. This is the very first time i have found a host/writer/director that thinks for themselves and asks the right questions. eg, 'if cops are hired for their lower IQ results and their willingness to follow w/o question, then why should we believe...Read full review »

These stories go in depth and shed light on aspects of these crimes that are often glossed over or neglected. The stories are told with compassion and nuance. I look forward to more to come.

This is a deeper way to look into true crime and for those that have heard most of the popular true crime podcasts… they start to sound slightly the same. This is a new perspective and really makes you think. Great podcast. I’m burning through it.

Such a well done podcast showing compassion and care for victims. The sources and links that listeners can go to to support actual change is my favorite part.

Celisia has a gift for story-telling, a wonderful voice and delivery that keeps one’s interest, and an intelligent, really intelligent, approach to crime reporting. She addresses cases other podcasters haven’t or in ways they haven’t, and educates (gently) the listener on issues that these cases...Read full review »

Writers and host do an excellent job of exploring systemic issues in the justice system, capitalist exploitation of victims, and impacts of intersectionality. As a social worker, I find a lot of true crime shows and podcasts exploitative and demeaning to victims but not this podcast. They provide...Read full review »

I listen to a lot of true crime because I work in the criminal justice system. The premise of this podcast appealed to me because so much misinformation is out there. I have found this podcast this holiday season, and am currently binging it. It’s an incredible insight to victims and their stories. I also, sent in a request on the website.

Especially grateful for the episode where Celisia tells her own story. Her takeaways are always so grounded, realistic, logical, and empathetic. Every episode is another urgent question that isn’t being asked by enough people.

Compellingly told by the host. Reminds me a documentary. Nuanced, which can be difficult to find with your run of the mill true crime podcast. New favourite!

Wayyyyy too much unnecessary wordiness. Just get to the point. It’s like listening to someone read their essay to the class and they had to hit the minimum amount of words. Anyone who uses the phrase ‘pregnant people’ instead of the scientifically accurate phrase ‘pregnant women’ cannot be taken seriously. Catering to a very small section of humans is foolish. Accepting the premise of lies in a podcast genre that seeks truth is deeply flawed. Peace out. ✌🏻

I mistakenly assumed that having more information would provide a balance of BOTH sides of a story. This is unfortunately not the case here, host has a very clear bias which makes it impossible to discern what the actual truth is vs what “truth” the host is trying to push. This pod is well-researched, beautifully-presented and highly intelligent. Stories aren’t just told for entertainment—Celicia digs DEEP and shines a light on underlying issues/topics.
