I enjoy your podcasts, in general; however, your interpretations of the potential subjects of trauma are disturbing. For example, your interpretations of Michael Jackson’s abuse victims lack insight into how trauma victims experience trauma, speak about trauma, and get groomed for trauma. Also,...Read full review »

First: Though John is an expert, when I listen to his damning analysis of the way people use words in 911 calls and when they are first talking to police, it scares the crap out of me. If someone I love were attacked or killed I would be so distraught I have no idea what I would say. To be...Read full review »

Highlights the investigative process, rationally and with science. Deconstructs what people say and write to point out evidence of guilty knowledge. Very listenable. Enjoying this experienced investigator’s take on crimes. (Please no background music. I’m surrounded by plenty of noise already.)

Not sensational. Just the facts and his informed opinions clearly defined, respectively.

I always find this podcast interesting and intelligent. I would love to hear more about the host and the host’s background (was there something to do with the Secret Service???)

Love this podcast! The topics are so interesting and intriguing. I appreciate the extensive research that comes through each episode.

Pontificate is the right word for this. This guy is so out of touch on his judgement of human behavior and his assumptions of these cases is so off base. Annoying. Yes. Do I want to listen to it? No. I just want to hear the story.

poor research. Worse delivery. Hosts racism is obvious.

Currently listening to the Patty Prewitt episode (#160) and it is so clear that this podcast is copaganda disguised as “unraveling intricacies.” The host didn’t bother to mention the following facts: the house was broken into while her daughter was home (she hid under the bed) before the murder...Read full review »

Host volume is too low, usually way lower than occasional co-hosts or interviewees, while recordings are often 2x louder to the point of clipping. Extremely uncomfortable to listen, especially with headphones. Too bad, as the content is great!

Drug does not mean dragged. “He shook his head yes.”? No. He nodded his head, yes. We shake our heads, no.

There’s a difference between reading the story and telling the story with a script. This narrator has a monotonous voice and cadence. There is no differentiation, just sameness. If I didn’t understand English, I would not be able to tell the difference between a murder plot and a walk in the park.

Those episodes on Michael Jackson— way to blame victims and champion a talented offender. Gross.

Highly recommend giving this podcast a listen. Not as popular as some of the other true crime podcasts but you won’t be disappointed. John does a great job researching and presenting these cases…plus he has a nice voice.

John - you have created an incredible and unique podcast. It is truly disappointing when someone puts so much time and effort into each case and the ones that get all the publicity and accolades are podcasts like Crime Junkie who regurgitates all their information from google. I just started to listen and the first case I hear is one I saw on Crimes to Remember which dramatized this case. As I am listening, I said to myself this case sounds familiar. Thank you for more information that may have been missed by the TV series. I enjoyed hearing this from a different point...Read full review »

Great series including real interviews and independent analysis for every episode. Well researched and far beyond every silly crime cast with a narrator basically reading a dramatic script culled from old newspaper articles. Five star all the way

When detailing the crimes of male suspects the narrator merely offers the details — albeit with simple grammar lapses that should be edited to give the show higher quality. But heaven forbid a woman should commit a crime. The narrator takes on the pious, scolding patriarchal tone that’s almost...Read full review »

I can’t believe this podcast has been around since 2016 & I haven’t found & binged it until now! I listen to this podcast a lot but I feel the author/narrator takes too many assumptions as fact. I love most true crime podcasts but I LOVE this one due to the fact it is just a big fact check. He gives you the facts and throws in interviews and it’s still chilling and so factual! He doesn’t over-bare you with his opinions and it’s amazing!!
