Twenty-seven years ago, on February 28, 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents attempted to execute a “dynamic entry” into the compound of The Branch Davidians at Mount Carmel. The failed operation then turned into a 51-day standoff. During that time, Koresh and most of his followers had refused to leave the compound, which was surrounded by tanks, armored vehicles, and more than 600 federal agents. Most people can tell you what happened on April 19, 1993, in Waco, Texas when law enforcement laid siege to the Branch Davidian compound. Eventually, the FBI launched an assault and initiated a tear gas attack in an attempt to force the Branch Davidians out of the ranch.
