Postpartum Depression The time after pregnancy is a period of great change for women. A woman has just given birth and is bringing a new baby home. She may have anxiety about the new baby or being a mother, she may feel exhausted after giving birth, and there are many hormonal changes that occur at this time. When I entered my late 30s, I started to have weight gain (even though my eating habits hadn’t changed). Then I started to have trouble sleeping. And then later, my menstrual cycles became heavier, longer, and more painful. It didn’t know what was going on. If you are a woman between the ages of 35-50 and you start to have similar changes you may be entering perimenopause which is a time of hormonal change before meopause.
