“What’s not to love about two curmudgeonly British comedians discussing some of the most brutal disasters to have ever befallen our species? I’ve followed them since their previous podcast, which scrutinised all the weighty issues of our times - war, peace, travel, fashion, work and, of course, carveries.
Here though, they discuss a series of occasionally famous, but mostly obscure, catastrophes with great insight and surprising sensitivity - only really appealing to humour when it’s almost essential to dissipate the bleak subject matter.
The pacing of the show is an absolute joy - it’s clear they are genuinely engaged - and the episode on The Donner Party ranks as one of the best episodes of any podcast I’ve ever heard. It’s bloody brilliant.”
