The girl gang continues with a conversation with Abby Atol, Sierra Langbell, and Theresa Spangler. We spent about a week together at the Hooray Ranch in Kingman, Kansas hunting waterfowl and upland birds. And we dive in head first.

In this episode, I sit down with myself. And with my former self through writing. I also read a few favorite poems from Nikki Giovanni and Jim Harrison. It's my first shot at doing a Sunday Coffee episode and it's a quick shot of writing and poetry, clocking in at under 30 minutes. I hope you like it.

I sit down to tell my mom the story of my recent successful deer hunt in eastern Montana. She shanghais the podcast multiple times and creates ads for every family business. We talk about Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the badass legacy of that human, then somehow we make it back around to the experience of killing this year's deer. Mom leaves the podcast to go listen to coyotes for awhile.

After being *rudely* interrupted on our first surprise podcast-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-sound-test, Linds and I get together to talk about her recent elk camp where something *awesome* happened, with Grandma Ellen's rifle and elk-hunting jacket in tow. A lot of emotions play into this elk hunt, and we go through that process. And we also talk about our upcoming all-womens Deer Camp, which is fixing to be a wild time.

What started out as a quick equipment test ended up being a great discussion. And hence, the first Unpaved Podcast. It would make sense that a comfortable conversation would easily happen with a best friend of five years. A promise of a short chat turned into a dirt road talk of Lindsey's Montanan roots and her badass grandmother, the changing nature of work, wedding photography, the existential angst of the desert, and more.
