“I love this show! I'm 41, husband and father of 3. Got as far as a HS diploma and pretty much have just worked in any job to pay the bills. Most recently doing facilities services and shipping & receiving chemicals. Early this summer I was told that my position would be eliminated and started to think to myself now that my kids are a little older now would be the best time to pursue a career in something I enjoy. My true vocational desire: to make or improve things for the benefit of humankind. A while back I tried to get into coding on my own but I never took off with it. I just never felt the spark. I came across an instagram ad for a ux design course and they had a short 7 day intro course and said to my self this sounds interesting! coincidently my wife came across the same ad and she sent it my way. With a 45min to an hour commute I listen to podcasts on the drive and came across user defenders and thought hey this would be a good way to get a better idea about what UX Designers do. I was wrong it was that and so much more. I started from episode 1 and so far have gone through episode 50.
