As a starting point, there will be a brief outline of some of the historical trends that have led us to where we find ourselves:
* breakdown of the engine of economic progress for much of the developed world, well before the post-2008 crisis
* tilting of the global economy away from 19-20C powers (EU, US) towards new (or older) BRICS countries
* networked disruption - what does the Arab Spring have in common with Napster?
* ecological crisis unmatched in the lifespan of our species
* crisis of measurement - awareness that reductive quantitative analysis leaves out something important, search for better metrics (social capital, pricing externalities),
but this doesn't solve the problem
