I really enjoy listening to Jan & Paul discuss kids movies from the perspective of both parents and fans, while also thinking (way too) seriously about the social expectations, narrative conventions, and ideological elements encoded into all the movies. They aren't there to yuck your...Read full review »

I’d like to say that the sound affects are the best. Listening to this podcast is like having conversations with some friends about the craft of films. Being that it’s children movies is helpful too! With some, it’s a walk into nostalgia and analysing films of my youth and others is listening to...Read full review »

Is it good? Yes. Is it seriously good? YES! Great way to revisit and analyze entertainment aimed at kids from an adult perspective without removing the emotions involved. Paul and Jan aren’t worried about taking these movies seriously, without taking themselves too seriously.

Love this podcast! So much fun thinking about all of my fav kids movies way too seriously! Paul and Jan do a great job of unpacking some of the issues that seem to get swept under the rug in these movies like sexism and racism. Glad to know I’m not crazy thinking about this stuff.

Jan and Paul are a delightful and intelligent combination! They sit down to discuss children’s movies and discuss them with some critical analysis applied. It’s so refreshing as a parent to hear other parents share their thoughts on movies like these. It also gives me a good idea of movies my...Read full review »

Paul and Jan are excellent at talking through films aimed at kids from a thoughtful, intelligent perspective - what works in the story, what’s problematic, what the messages are that are really good for kids to be exposed to. It’s critical analysis that’s much needed for any type of media. Plus,...Read full review »

If you don't want to immediately get on a plane to Canada to discuss every kids movie over a glass of wine with these two, what are you even doing? They analyse kids films with a mix of critical perspective and enjoyment factor. They ask so many great questions about the social implications...Read full review »

I have no children of my own, but I have seen a decent number of "kids" movies, and Jan & Paul know what they are talking about! They break these movies down in an accessible and insightful way, discussing what works, what doesn't, and what is really going on. This duo is smart...Read full review »

It is hard to watch shows with your kids. The stories can be trite, predictable, or just poorly made. But sometimes there are classics that hold deep ideas. Jan and Paul tell you what is bad, what is good, and what is seriously good. A great show.

I love this podcast, and I don't even have kids. Jan and Paul analyze "kids media" with just the right amount of seriousness IMO, and have so many interesting things to say. It's been really fun revisiting my childhood favorites (like Hook and Wizard of Oz) and taking a closer...Read full review »
