Not 3 star 5 star!
Amazing how opinions differ. I came across this podcasts only a month back after starting to read James’ Band of Brothers book and what a treasure trove it is! It’s already leading me to buy more books in order to explore more deeply the rabbit holes down which they take you. Someone recently criticized Al and James’ approach saying that Al was laughing too much and that they don’t allow guests to speak enough. I couldn’t disagree more. Fantastic guests who do get their say and Al’s wit and humor are always at appropriate moments. The “with spanners descending” comments had me in tears when they were discussing Market Garden. There’s loads of respectful and sombre debate in between and surely those who fought did not switch their sense of humor off for five years and neither should we.

Love this podcast. I thought I knew a bit about WW2 but I’m learning something new in every episode. Informative and fun and there’s some great banter too - just like a night down the pub. More please!

Can you recommend the best book on the D Day landings. My wife and I are going for a Normandy holiday next year, at her request! I would like to be as knowledged up as I can be. Cheers By the way great podcast just far too short!
