One star
In the vast and diverse world of podcasts, there are those shining beacons of creativity and originality that capture the imagination of their audience. Then, regrettably, there are shows like "Weekly Spooky," hosted by Henrique Couto, which exemplify a nightmarish lack of substance and innovation. From the very first episode, it becomes painfully clear that "Weekly Spooky" offers little more than a pale imitation of what the horror genre can truly be. One would expect a podcast with a title like this to delve into some groundbreaking stuff. Instead, listeners are met with stories that seem ripped from the bargain bin of a second-rate Halloween store. Couto's delivery is as uninspiring as the content itself. His narration lacks the charisma or gravitas necessary to make even the most banal stories engaging. Each episode feels like a laborious slog through mediocre plots and unconvincing characters, leaving you yearning for the genuine terror that horror should inspire. Perhaps the most glaring issue with this podcast is its lack of originality. Horror as a genre is ripe with opportunities for creativity and innovation, yet "Weekly Spooky" chooses to rehash tired clichés and well-worn tropes, failing to bring anything new to the table. It's as though the show is stuck in a perpetual loop of uninspired storytelling. In a world where listeners can easily find captivating and well-produced horror podcasts , "Weekly Spooky" stands as a dismal reminder of the genre's potential squandered. Henrique Couto's podcast might bear the name "Weekly Spooky," but its content, delivery, and production values all fall dismally short of what one would expect from a show in the horror genre. "Weekly Spooky" is an unfortunate misfire in the realm of horror podcasts. It fails to deliver genuine chills, offering instead a lackluster assortment of unimaginative stories and subpar production. For true horror enthusiasts, there are countless other podcasts out there that deserve your attention, leaving "Weekly Spooky" to languish in the shadows of mediocrity.Read full review »

More reviews of Weekly Spooky - Scary Stories!
Terrible. The stories are so silly and not scary. I enjoy tongue and cheek silly, but this is trying to be serious so it comes off super cheesy.

I love the idea of weekly spooky. And I like the host. He does a good job of narrating, and there is also some decent production value to everything. Good atmospheric music, good presentation, etc… but the stories, are just so…so…bad I tried to stick with it for a few episodes, just in case I...Read full review »
