I put off listening to podcasts for what seems like forever, but a friend of mine sent me a link to this podcast because I’m a huge fan of El-P and Def Jux and I’m so glad he did. The interviewer, Open Mike Eagle, does a fantastic job of asking engaging questions that get real answers. You can...Read full review »

Earbud up, or whatever, and listen to the most entertaining and knowledgeable conversations hosted with creatives who have shaped the hip hop culture we live in today, hosted by the INIMITABLE Open Mike Eagle. DO NOT SLEEP ON SEASON 1 with the UNPARALLELED DJ PRINCE PAUL.

Mike- thank you for doing this. The in depth look into the creative process and this history of these records is amazing. I wish it was longer! I’ve always wondered about Def jux and when it ended- it was cool to hear it from the source. Great job!

Open Mike Eagle is a great host, asking good questions and perhaps more importantly knowing when to be quiet and let the subject speak. He creates an intimate atmosphere, allowing the subjects to really open up about their lives and their art.

Love all (2 at the time) seasons & I wasn’t even all that huge into El-P or Prince Paul beforehand. But I think it’s a credit to Open Mike’s interview style & genuine desire for connection, that I am now. Note: Please be conscious of the volume of songs played (including the theme) in...Read full review »

Mike is a super fan, and he's been able to make a friendship and fandom connection with Prince Paul and El-P, in the first two seasons/series. Both of these artists speak to Mike with a little bit of understandable hesitance in the first episodes, but by the fourth show you feel a real bond...Read full review »

What every hip hop head dreams of. Getting to sit down for 15 hours and learn what makes their idols tick. I wouldn’t think I’d want to sit through 10-12, one-hour long interviews with the same person but I loved every one. Of the wealth offered throughout both seasons I’ll say the most impactful...Read full review »

I’m so happy I stumbled upon this mid season 2. Enjoyed it so much I finished season 1 before the next season 2 episode came out. Hearing the stories and thought process that went into making some of the best and most interesting music and careers is something that shouldn’t be missed.

After season 1 I had the hope they would do El P. While the distance between them in season 2 took some getting use to I love the 2nd season. Mike and Paul have very different vibes so it is hard to compare the seasons. Mainly due to the pandemic season 1 is still my favorite, but I’m digging for...Read full review »
