This podcast is a fun way to explore alternate realities using scientific reasoning. I love how it opens the mind to new and intriguing scenarios. I can’t wait to listen to all the episodes! Great podcast! Thanks for putting this together!

…when Philip Shane and Prof. Matt Stanley delve into one of their scientific / technological / cultural ”what the ifs”. The best that I know the responses from Matt Stanley are mainly improvised on the spot (which gave me a weird tangent, as the voice of Matt sounds very similar to the...Read full review »

This is a lighthearted show that is very enjoyable and funny...it’s nice to let minds run wild just to see where that leads.

Loved your recent podcast! Cage Match. Love that it ended up in an elevator instead of as a cage match! I am definitely a “Bob” and yet, I like to look a the art in an exhibit BEFORE reading all that mumbo jumbo. Loved the idea of the big blue painting versus space too.

Really fun, super smart with a great sense of humour. Also I cannot believe how much information these guys (and their guests) know! And to be a professor of the history of science? Basically you are a walking encyclopedia. Wow. I’ve been totally hooked for a while!

This show is great. I've been on with them twice now and feel privileged. They always know how to take science and technology and hurl it into the farthest realms of possibility! If space, astronomy and the STEMs are your thing, I highly recommend listening in.Read full review »

Matt and Philip are a great team, both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about so many subjects. What the if is some crazy combination of comedy, game show, talk show and science info podcast which adds up to a very interesting and entertaining listen.

A beautiful example of how to think out of the box of normal thinking, an erudite professor and a filmmaker who is continually amazed about everything. Listen, you won’t be disappointed!

Always funny, always interesting, this podcast should be listened to in it's entirety. There is so much to learn, and a lot of mind-bending concepts that are explained in an understandable way. Philip is a layman of science, but still manages to ask the right questions, from the absurd and...Read full review »

I love this podcast! As a very curious person, this podcast entertains me whenever I listen to it. These episodes help me think outside the box and question what the if? Would recommend this to anyone who loves science!

This just might be the most interesting, educational, and funny of the science podcasts in this universe. I subscribe to a couple dozen science and math podcasts. Science podcasts are my go-to diversion when driving, mowing the lawn, or participating in otherwise boring tasks. WHAT THE IF? is...Read full review »

Philip and Matt are well spoken, funny, and smart guys! They talk about things that we all ponder while we lay awake at night, or maybe in the shower? Shower thoughts! I particularly enjoy their ability to get into the weird realm of pseudoscience for the sake of asking...WHAT THE IF!? Thanks...Read full review »

This show is really great, it's an unusual science show, because they mix in science fiction movies and books, and they have an awesome sense of play and imagination. I've taught science, and I know how hard it is, and Philip & Matt on this show make it not only look easy, but it just...Read full review »

I’m over 17 minutes into an episode about if astrology is real and they’ve only started talking about the topic. Meandering and uninteresting. Avoid.

I recently listened to the FLAT EARTH episode while on a late night drive. It was funny and geeky. They took seriously the flat earth model in order to poke holes in it. What would the world be like? Wildly different!

You don't have to be a science nerd to enjoy Philip and Matt's show. These guys have a great rapport and make learning about science quite infectious (like an infectious disasse). Subscribe to this podcast and you won't be sorry. Safe for the entire family.Read full review »

Philip and Matt followed me on Twitter so I gave their podcast a try. I was instantly hooked from the first episode. It took me 18 days to listen to the 36 episodes that were available at the time. I love how this show starts off with one topic and by the end we are somewhere totally different and it feels like you learned something! If you want to learn something from a podcast give “What the if” a listen.

This is SO much fun, and informative too! Phil and Matt are great complements to each other, and make for excellent listening company - like two awesomely interesting friends you are having dinner with, with whom the conversation ranges widely over many topics... with such good humour too!

I'm not into shows that chit-chat about random stuff, which is what I expected from a show called "What the If", but I have to admit: I get it. Not only is there great chemestry and humor but they have brought up some thought provoking but intelligent topics. Good stuff guys!Read full review »
