Elf
All I can focus on is the narrator sounds like the narrator in the movie elf

I was unpleasantly surprised and dismayed to discover that every episode past the first of Devil in the Ditch had to be subscribed to, yet the current season’s episodes are ALL available ad-free. I was much more interested in season 4. Why would this one be behind a paywall when the most recent...Read full review »

Very interesting and told well!

I am impressed again with the quality of storytelling from this production company. It’s an interesting story with easy to listen to narration and interviews and polished editing. I definitely “binged” my listening for this story.
Jmkperky via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/24/24
This one really stunk. It was very wasteful of my time because the story just lacked anything that wanted me to continue listening. Boring!

I thought this was really well done and Interesting subject matter. Some of these shows drag on and on, but this one had a good pace and great narration, highly recommend.

A lot of work goes into finding out all the details of an event. Putting it together in a story that makes sense is hard and the team has done and continues to do an amazing job at it. Engaging, captivating and informative podcast.
paxterics via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/17/24
Ok
I could do without the exploitative emotional interviews with the victims. Makes me really uncomfortable. Just have the narrator tell the story of the event, no interviews, etc
idontknowY via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/16/24
The podcast team/host completely give ip, just as things get interesting, around episode 5. They stop challenging assertions, they let the daughter and wife just ramble on and consider their comments as fact, and completely unattributed “facts” are now part of the story. The whole narrative is...Read full review »

Great podcast, well done. But despite what they say in the first episode, Austin PD is in fact *not a good department. Hearing they minimized and hoped it would be a one-off based on virtually nothing but their desire was not surprising. Especially around then. The city doubled in size, but the...Read full review »

Such a cool inside look (listen?) into how bomb techs work and investigate under such high stakes. Can’t wait for the next one!
SharpDM1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/09/24
Narrator wears his liberalism on his sleeve. Little comments here and there. Just tell the story.
Suedebskillz via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/08/24
Absolutely riveting. This story is an eye opener and a wild, surprising ride. I’ll listen to anything by Sean Flynn. Master storyteller!

Yeah but nah... too much rambling on about stuff that has nothing to do with the investigation, my min kept wandering off and every time I'd tune back in I thought i was listening to a different podcast. Not interesting at all.Read full review »

I hesitate to pass judgment on someone else’s grief. All sympathy to Gary’s widow Wendy, but this is a story of denial, not a true crime mystery. The unfortunate truth is that every year, people accidentally drive into bodies of water in remote, hidden locations that aren’t discovered for years,...Read full review »

I enjoy this podcaster but this story just annoyed me. Not trying to downplay this woman’s loss or heartbreak but it sounded more like her refusal to accept any possible scenario except for a conspiracy. It felt like she was looking for something but there was no “there” there.
Abx 1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/18/24
Is a crackpot. I found her extremely irritating and not believable at all
Charlie2360 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 03/10/24
This season is worth it alone for the narrator, Sean Flynn. All podcast hosts should take a page from his book. Great voice, lovely timbre, well told from an historic perspective. The story/case is interesting too, if not mind blowingly unique or surprising.
engerin via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/06/24
This show is exactly the opposite of what this world needs right now. Filled with conspiracy founded in nothing and unabated commentary from a woman that only sought “evidence” to confirm her bias, this show plays much more like a YouTube spectacle than that of an investigative series. “Blaming black people for crime against white people is a southern trope” 80% of the towns population is black but this guy is crazy to think a black person is responsible? Check out some FBI crime statistics guilty white lady

The story about Gary and his connections to CIA and all that stuff is the most interesting part because it can be verified with facts. All the conspiracy nonsense and psychics just makes you lose all credibility. Apparently the truth isn’t interesting enough and so “journalists” need to throw in...Read full review »

We were SO lost when the lady just started speaking out of nowhere and you haven’t thee slightest clue what it’s for…it’s like she’s rehearsing a crappy play or reading a poem, so very monotone. Right after she says her random lines, the host then jumps in and repeats the same exact thing..How...Read full review »

Too much focus on conspiracy theories. Podcast much longer than it needed to be to tell the story.

Just when you think these people couldn’t be any weirder, enter psychics. Bizzare, and not very believable. 8 episodes trying to make something out of nothing.

A+
Excellent storytelling. If nothing else, listen to this for the fascinating commentary about Hollywood’s connection to the CIA.

Very interesting story I had not heard before….the first episode is worth a listen for that alone. Then do yourself a favor: skip to the final episode, where one of Gary’s friends very sensibly and logically explains what probably happened to Gary, which the host treats almost dismissively and...Read full review »

No conspiracy. No murder. The most logical explanation is how he died. He saw police activity. He flipped a u-turn. He drove into the viaduct. Period.

The story is sad. But you have blown it by mixing up the faces. “The middle of the Mojave desert? You mention Palmdale? Not the middle of the Mojave. You mention the l14 that he went missing from. Fully invested in this story. Love the style of presentation. Some narration mixed with real life sound clips and interview snippets. Suspense and drama

Turns out, the simplest explanation is the most likely, and the rest are just wild conspiracy theories that friends and family have come up with. The podcast put way too much emphasis on rumours. Intriguing story, well reported and interesting interviews. I can’t wait to listen to the next episode. I like the presentation. Highly recommended

The general show quality was great, but what is this topic? Hours of content about a dude that veered of the road a few decades ago? And the people they interviewed seem like they are trying to cling to the last morsels of fame by standing on a decaying coffin. I mean, I can hear silicon and...Read full review »

Wow! Thanks for this intriguing season re Gary Devore’s life and disappearance. The just in Season 4 has this really distracting affectation where her voice tails off at the end of every sentence into this gargly sound. It’s distracting, then annoying, and eventually I had to move on.
Footypj via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/04/24
eh
well told, narrator is really good, writing is good, but…. did we really need an entire podcast about a guy that veered off a road?
