“Why listen? The podcast premise marries history and present-day travel like no other podcast out there. Each episode is essentially broken into two halves; one half that tells the history of the wonder—a site, monument, or natural area—embedded in a chronological super-narrative spanning human history; the other half discusses modern-day travel in each country, usually by inviting on a guest to talk about the experience. Plus, Caroline is a foodie, so there's a lot of local flavor added—literally! It isn't as tightly written nor as academic as some of the other history podcasts I enjoy, but Caroline's strengths are her irreverent sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm for cross-cultural experiences.
