History + travel + a great sense of humor
Why listen? The podcast premise marries history and present-day travel like no other podcast out there. Each episode is essentially broken into two halves; one half that tells the history of the wonder—a site, monument, or natural area—embedded in a chronological super-narrative spanning human history; the other half discusses modern-day travel in each country, usually by inviting on a guest to talk about the experience. Plus, Caroline is a foodie, so there's a lot of local flavor added—literally! It isn't as tightly written nor as academic as some of the other history podcasts I enjoy, but Caroline's strengths are her irreverent sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm for cross-cultural experiences. This is her journey as much as it is a journey through global cultures, and it's been a joy as a listener to be invited along for the trip.Read full review »

The storytelling and subject matter leave me wanting more at the end of every episode. I love History and I love the way these stories are told.
