“Rather than using the term "negative feedback" or "criticism" you could simply use feedback = information an individual can use to improve/modify their performance. That's it. How you perceive it will be based on your past experiences - either something to learn from or something to ignore, defend, deflect or run away from. The person giving the feedback should also be aware that "how" they give the feedback will impact the receiver's experience.
