Truly Humbling and Important Conversation
Thank you both for the ego check. I am a white woman with a vision of teaching yoga professionally. Most of my teachers have been white, almost everyone in my teacher trainings have been white and I even have a Sanskrit tattoo (guilty 😖). I have been humbled by this conversation and see how my own actions have perpetuated the cultural appropriation of yoga. In the spirit of Ahimsa, I look forward to listening to this Podcast for more information on how to become an ally and how to bring this conversation into my circles so we can affect change. Thank you for calling us out and for holding us accountable. Now it’s time for me to do some work!
