An Insightful, Informative Podcast
Learning Chinese? I have four words for you: listen to this podcast! Hosts Jared Turner and John Pasden (also the founders of the wonderful Mandarin Companion series) share tips about learning Mandarin Chinese and discuss a variety of topics useful to anyone learning the language. Peppered with wit, their dozens of episodes have motivated me on my personal language learning journey. I've listened to the episodes while biking to school, going on hikes, and cleaning; the stories shared during interviews have shown me I'm not alone on this adventure and opened my eyes to a plethora of resources and interesting stories. Keep it up, guys! Thanks so much for the podcast (and Mandarin Companion, of course)! P.S. - I know you sometimes read these reviews, and I've been struggling with something that I hope you'd be willing to provide me advice with: My reading skills are relatively good, and I have theoretical knowledge up to the HSK 3 level. However, when I try to speak with my tutor, I find my vocabulary has shrunk down to about 100 words! Outside of these lessons, there is little opportunity in my country to practice. Still love this podcast. Not only has it helped me study Mandarin better, it has also helped me teach my students English better. Loved the most recent episode about dialects.
