As a fairly beginner piano player for the last two decades and life long music listener I’ve always found it hard to figure out what’s happening behind the scenes on certain great sounding riffs. I like the episodes that drive right at lifting the veil off of sounds and techniques that have felt largely foreign and unattainable up to now. The recent Funkify Your Playing episode is a good example. The podcast is a vast archive of years of information, but has been markedly improving and lately some of the episodes have been more on the money than ever. Profound even, landing in the category of broader human experience, philosophy, and ideas of advancement. Jazz Mindfulness, perhaps? Plus the good lols and eyerolls.

Most...Read full review »

Love the jazz focus, truly, but as someone with mixed allegiances music-wise, I get so much that benefits my approach to songwriting mastery, classical, and other kinds of music I work at on various instruments...Read full review »
