Description
In this episode I spoke with Dr. Prickett CEO of Concierge Medicine about how crucial sleep is for all of us particularly for tennis players.  She discusses multiple studies that have been done on sleep regarding how many hours of sleep are necessary, the consistency of going to bed at the same time, practices to enhance the benefits that sleep brings you.  We go in detail about the consequences of not getting enough sleep in particular how lack of sleep will affect our rapid response and athletic performance in general.  Dr. Prickett shares a study that compares how being sleep deprived has similar effects on the body as the ones that alcohol intoxication has.  We also discuss the different sleep cycles that the body goes through and what happens during each cycle.  Naps and insomnia are also a part of our discussion.  Dr. Prickett talks about the right way to take naps and how they can hurt or helps us and what kinds of insomnia affect us and how to go about getting help when we can't sleep. We finish the episode talking about the circadian rhythm and how we can help our boys enhance it.
