Not only is this podcast a personal fav, I also force my classes of high school students to listen to various episodes thanks to the trio’s clean and humorous approach to podcasting. High level epistemologies are broken down clearly and widespread misnomers are clarified through a laugh-along...Read full review »

This show is fabulous. Lots of fun spelling, definition and vocabulary tips and they don’t take themselves to seriously! Sometimes I am laughing out loud in my car. Thanks so much to the creators!

That’s what this podcast is! If you’re not sure, it’s a word, I’m sure Kathy and Ross will tell us. Listening to Cathy, Ross, and Fletcher discuss the craziness of the English language is just laugh out loud funny. Give it a whirl!

This podcast is splendidly written, read, researched and put together. Fletcher, Kathy, and Ross have extremely pleasant voices and one never minds hearing them chatter. Reminds me of the best of classic radio (including, of course, Car Talk). Keep doing this and hurray for public radio in the...Read full review »

Nothing makes me smile like this show, recently. The hosts have fantastic chemistry and their passion for language is contagious. Their approach is inclusive, utilitarian, and curious. No pedants here! I’m now describing it as the Car Talk for language lovers. It’s just DELIGHTFUL. If only it...Read full review »

My career in communications & marketing made me sensitive to clear, concise language use. YSIW is both informative and entertaining and I especially love listening to Kathy laugh!

I prefer entertainment that also informs, and this podcast does both very well!

You’re Saying It Wrong is a lighthearted conversation about all the fussy details of everyday language. Siblings Ross and Kathryn word-nerd, and Fletcher, the host, cannot stop laughing about all the contradictions of how Americans speak English. Cognates, etymologies, confusions, and pop-quizzes...Read full review »

These guys aren’t the worst, but they’re also not the best. Occasionally thoughtful and insightful, but at other times not always as well informed as they could be - sometimes they come across as self-appointed experts bloviating about pet peeves and basing their conclusions on their gut feelings...Read full review »

I teach English to foreign students and I have learned two others (well…learned them about 30 years ago but can still function in both, but I think my Japanese is better than my French). I have long loved studying language, etymology, how words came into English and changed over time. So far, I’m...Read full review »

When the news and life in general gets you down, these folks well pick you up. Light, easy, and so fun. They seem a bit pretentious, but they poke fun at themselves constantly and really don’t seem to take themselves too seriously. I love it

Enlightening, entertaining, enjoyable -- and sometimes even provocative. But never judgmental. So many things to learn about and the host and the brother and sister team all add to the mix. Just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work!

If you love languages and pronunciation this is the podcast for you! It is so interesting to learn how some words are pronounced and which language influenced the pronunciation. I learn something new with each podcast.

Some episodes, I shake my head, thinking, "How could anyone think it's pronounced like that?" Other episodes, I'm shocked to learn that I've been saying it wrong!Read full review »

If you enjoy the erudite (and want to feel confident in your use of words), try this podcast. I always learn something new and interesting. The vibe is friendly and not “know-it-all”.

I feel so isolated in my grammatical pedantry! So glad there are others who are fascinated with the English language and its rules and idiosyncrasies. Thanks for your program.

The podcast is quick and funny and the brother and sister team bring personality to the material. Even with its title, there is very little wrong or judgmental in how they view people's use of language - it's more of a delightful quick jaunt through history or sociology.
