Description
3 more fantastic human beings from within the IOH ranks joined Phil Street, MIH to chat through the good and the bad of awards and accolades in an episode once again brought to you by those good people over at Caterer.com They were, Brand Consultant Yvonne Joseph AIH who joined us from Lagos in Nigeria, Emily Coubrough MIH, a recent Acorn Award winner and Guest Experience & Communications Manager at the Iconic Savoy in London and Cyrus Todiwala FIH, Celebrity Chef Extraordinaire and Founder of Zest Quest Asia a fabulous competition for ambitious student chefs daring to be the best in Asian Cuisine. As well as covering our headline topic, we learned all the reasons why our guests said #Imin to the IOH and we also got a couple of golden nuggets around the need to slow your career ambition down in order to help you get ahead whilst also chatting about the significance of the Mentor Me scheme. Under the headline topic, each of the guests, and Phil, gave their experience of awards from within their life and career so far and so much came up including instilling a sense of pride, increasing your network within your peers, what it takes to produce an awards program, inspiring the next wave of talent, the prize can be the inspiration, confirmation that you are good at something, does winning come with responsibility?, It can inspire our teams, being nominated can be enough, not winning can drive you forward, Too many awards can dilute their appeal, There can be external pressure on expectation to win, celebrating every corner of the industry (This felt like a bit of a Battle cry). No doubt it was an energetic and positive chat with 3 wonderful people. Enjoy!
