Where would we all be without our own reputation? It can both help and hinder you, dependent on where you are so we thought we’d enlist the help of three more awesome IOH members to pull this subject apart and discuss how we can all build and maintain our own reputations.
Phil’s guests included Nicolas Medicamento MIH who was recently upgraded a membership grade (A huge congrats to him), Kurt Macher MIH and Paul Gilley FIH.
As always, Phil asked his guests for some insight into why they said “I’m In” to the IOH. As compelling as ever, they gave some great reasons including: -
To support the industryTo educate the future of the industryTo make the industry a better placeThe Events that IOH puts onLooking after the next generationExpanding the NetworkGiving back wherever possible.
As with most of our discussions, there was so much covered around reputation such as: -
Building a positive reputation is, without question, an important part of successHonesty and integrity are hugely important when forming a reputationDeliver what you say you willFigure out what you stand for and build that foundationSocial media can help and hinder reputationLearn what your values are and stay true to themFind your authentic voiceShowing vulnerability is also important when it comes to developing your leadership reputationIt’s important you adapt to cultural differences in whatever country you are inThe company you keep is also very important in helping you build your reputationWe should not be tolerating the things that are not good for this industry to help protect it’s reputationThe threats are around things that can be out of your control, how you respond is the only thing you can controlOur egos are a major threat to our reputation. How you manage that is incredibly importantStaying grounded is important, keep focusing on the futureMaking mistakes around this is inevitable. Again, how you respond when it does can absolutely cement your reputation
A huge thank you to our guests for giving up their time and opinion, such a fascinating discussion.
Enjoy!
