A wonderful podcast for ghost story fans and James affiliates everywhere. Quite how you can perceive the podcast as ‘woke’ is baffling to say the least 😕

Outstanding and very much to be recommended, indeed I have just recently recommended it to new readers of M.R. James. There are always more people discovering his stories.

This has really gone down a tedious woke rabbit hole, which is a shame as the earlier episodes on James were good. Now it’s a lot of obvious statements about C19th writers not having the views of a left leaning middle class type from 2022, quelle surprise! They lack the self awareness to realise...Read full review »

Hey, I know there are a lot of podcasts out there but when you find one that you immediately love - that’s rare. Admittedly I’ve only listened to the first two but so far I’m all thumbs up! Not only because of the topic but also because these guys have the balance right between fun banter and...Read full review »

Update: continues to be fantastic, and I will listen as long as you are doing them. My sisters are sold on them, I don’t think there’s a day in which I don’t listen to a new or old episode. What I really love is the clear friendship, the genuine niceness of it all despite it being about ghosts...Read full review »

Once a memorabilia to M R James but now contain many story’s by many authors not forgetting the interviews with many great people. You can not only get the story but you can get the meanings and influences behind it.

Only recently discovered this podcast and am working my way through the back catalogue. Really enjoy the insight, background and analysis of these wonderful stories. Highly recommended if you enjoy James’ work.

I absolutely LOVE ‘A Podcast to the Curious’. I have a habit of reading the stories myself first and then listening to what the chaps have to say about it, which (often) give me a totally different view on the stories, which I love! A history lesson as well as a story discussion, this podcast...Read full review »

What a labour of love delving into the themes, characters, locations, spin offs etc of MR James’s stories. Rekindled my love of the old ghost stories of James and his contemporaries.

This is what a podcast should be: beautifully produced, with witty, intelligent and clever hosts, and fascinating subject matter. I have been a huge fan of M.R. Love this podcast - interesting and entertaining in equal measure. Enough well researched insight to be enlightening without drowning in detail; enough light hearted banter and wry comment to make it fun without becoming trivial; enough extracts from the stories to give a feel for them without...Read full review »

Stumbled over this completely by chance this month and it‘s everything I need in a podcast - pithy, clever and well-researched observations about classic ghost stories, served with a healthy dollop of dry British sarcasm and humour. Delighted there’s 70+ for me to trawl through. Excellent stuff,...Read full review »

I started listening to this podcast with basically no knowledge of M.R. James. (I’d seen the 1957 film Night of the Demon but had never read any of James’s stories or seen any of the television adaptations.) I’ve now listened to more than a dozen episodes and read the associated stories. Mike and...Read full review »
