Lovely interesting podcast
I'm a big M.R. James fan, but you don't have to be to enjoy this podcast: the hosts talk through each story as they go, and add lots of interesting details. This is the work of fans rather than academics, but they've done their homework and they've got good links on their site to go with it, and there's stuff to learn here. Mostly, I just enjoy listening to them talk. It's obviously well-rehearsed and the two hosts do a good double act, timing their sections well; they have soothing voices and a pleasant atmosphere and they obviously love James. A lot of media produced by fans can be rather smart-alecky and fond of scoring points at an author's expense, as if the fans were more admiring their own cleverness than the work they're reviewing, but these guys are sensible and sincere: I'd say less James 'fans' than a James 'appreciation society', which is a lovely thing to find. All in all, this is a real treat and well worth checking out.Read full review »

I’m new to the podcast and even though they’ve gone through all the M R James stories they can cover, the podcast is still going strong! loved the ‘Signalman’ and Moor Road’ episodes. keep up the good work. More Flaxman Low!!
