A fine podcast
This podcast has some real assets on it's side. Hosts Brandon Stanwyck and Joey Gentile have a nice rapport and the fact that they move chronologically through Best Actress lineups means that their podcast has a decent structure. There are a lot of aspects of it that could be improved however. I can appreciate the fact that they have a lot of years to cover and it is hard to come up with criticisms that sound original or exciting after over forty episodes but at times the podcast can feel stale as the two hosts go over material they have already discussed without adding anything new to the conversation. The structure of each episode is simple but sometimes does not allow the hosts to analyze the performances very deeply as they have a brief talk about each nominee and tell us whether they liked them or not before providing their overall ranking. I know that the podcast is not aiming to be And the Runner-Up Is but I think that more consideration of the storylines that led to each actresses getting nominated and more context for the year would help. Mr. Gentile is a fine host and has a very entertaining presentation style but if he were slightly less bombastic and fleshed out his justification for his sometimes controversial opinions then his sections of the podcast would be more entertaining and it might give the audience a sense of what he values in a performance. He and Stanwyck have fantastic chemistry and I enjoy listening to them every week. With a few tweaks this would be a fantastic podcast.Read full review »

Brandon & Joey are an amazing duo. Both are so much fun to listen to, Joey with his witty banter and then Brandon with his natural sly remarks. Listening to them is like a drug, and I need more- feeling like a junkie without new episodes daily.
