Lived it.
I haven’t listened to much yet. Of course Jon Hamm is excellent. I was a teenager, babysitting, that Feb day when the media were taken hostage by this small, angry man. He was part of the Greek community in Indy. So was my family. I suppose that made it worse. WIBC was always playing in our home. I was not at home. I was watching television with the children I was caring for. Suddenly, every channel was showing this man forcibly walking a terrified man down the streets of Indy. The still image of TK marching Mr. Hall around like a trophy with a shotgun crudely taped to his neck ready to be used to kill him-to decapitate him-barely captures what watching it in real time felt like. And TK was hateful when he spoke; threatening to shoot repeatedly. I don’t remember how long into what became the 63 hour traumatic criminal drama it was when Channel 13 cut to the news anchor and announced they could no longer justify broadcasting the “story” knowing that viewers might see a live assassination. Only Channel 13. I wrote the station and thanked them. I received a kind response from Paul Udell. TK declared himself an American Hero. He wasn’t a hero that day. I never cared if the bank acted badly or criminally. I never cared if people who knew him thought he was a “good guy.” I am stunned to read even now people praising him and saying he should have “blown the guy’s head off.” I hope the podcast tells the whole story-considering what all TK held hostage, how little he paid for his decision to terrorize a city and threaten a man’s life, how many were hurt by his actions.

This is just wild. How did I love my life not knowing this story? Big props to Jon Hamm on the killer portrayal and Joe Perrino from Power who took Tony Kiritsis to historic levels!

Podcast of the year (so far). I just binged it on Wondery, and my god... it's a juggernaut of peformances, high stakes tension, and the sound is simply incredible. Thought I'd see a lot more reviews on here (but I guess it's still behind a paywall?) In any case, this is one of the...Read full review »
