“Hi guys, I discovered your podcast recently and, as a longtime fan and study of film & TV music, wanted to check it out. I'm a big Star Trek fan as well. I appreciated the enthusiasm and interest you both show, in addition to having a piano handy for some musical technique discussion, such as harmonic intervals in the various themes. I would like to suggest a bit more research into your topic before recording, as there was a statement made regarding the number of original scores composed for the original series that was utterly incorrect. It was stated that there were only 9 original scores composed for the series throughout all 3 seasons, but this is untrue, there are closer to 42 both full and partial scores composed over the life of the show. Partial scores were scenarios where the producers needed some original cues for an episode but then the remainder was tracked with earlier cues. Each season had an average of 12 or so full or partial scores recorded, the cues for which were then re-used in the other episodes, sometimes in different seasons. Also, I take issue with the assesment that the tone of those TOS scores was all harsh and dissonant and that there wasn't any more flowing, melodic music composed. You should revisit episodes such as "City On The Edge of Forever", "Metamorphosis", "Return to Tomorrow" and "Is There In Truth No Beauty" for examples of lovely, beautiful scores composed for the show. In fact, in many episodes that featured a female guest star, she was often underscored with a swooning, rapturous cue. Just some insight and knowledge from a fellow fan!”Read full review »

“One episode in and absolutely loving it. It's ABC Keys to Music meets a Hollywood Golden Era Documentary. Listening brings back the same nostalgia as the films, the scores and the games.
The best part is it's both accessible and educational. I studied two instruments, voice and theory,...”Read full review »
“Such an outstanding podcast. I've sat through many an undergrad music history class and received much less insight than in these podcast episodes. Outstanding!!”Read full review »
