Fun to revisit books read in the past
At first I selected about 6 or 8 of the podcasts, choosing just books I knew and had read. After listening to all those discussions, I decided to get a second helping, mostly trying out reviews of books I know about but havent read. I like to listen to the group when I'm doing busywork in the office at home, and I learn good stuff along the way. Like other reviewers noted, there is one female panelist who interrupts a lot and tries to dominate the conversation, but she's not on every panel, so don't be scared away by her. It's a conversational program, not too cerebral, but good enough to make you want to go back and read some books again that you havent thought about for a long time. Their review of Obama's Audacity of Hope was quite a time-capsule because it was recorded in late 2007, before the nomination or the election, and they had good insights into the shortcomings of some candidates and a feel for the eventual outcome. I think it takes a fair amount of work to pull off an hour discussion without losing focus or the audience's interest, and they do it well. If you're a book person, I think you'll enjoy it.Read full review »

Their lack of real knowledge about the books they discuss truly show. They should either have used a format...Read full review »
