“If you like good books, this is the podcast for you. John and Andy approach the novels and short stories (and the journals and letters!) with the kind of joy and enthusiasm you typically get from sports talk radio instead of the hushed reverence you might expect from bookish types. Funny and very British, they largely focus on UK writers but the effect is inclusive rather than its opposite (even if you live in the US). What makes the podcast such a pleasure is that they spend their time sharing stories and talking about books they enjoy rather than arguing strident points or butting heads to create drama. It's really a wonderful show and a great source of pleasure and book recommendations. If you wish you had a book club, this would be the one to join: unexpected picks, good guests and great humor (plus, you don't actually have to read anything if you don't want to, I suppose). “Even if they discuss some books I've never heard of, they do it with such a love of literature that it is infectious. The podcast revives my love of reading during times when I'm stuck in a book that I don't love.
