I love taking January to myself. A time of a very intentional easing into the new year: a time during which i can begin to set in place the systems and routines that will essentially ensure i arrive at my goals by the end of the year.  Goals don’t have to be set in stone. And we don’t need to be too hard on ourselves if/when we don’t accomplish the things we set out to accomplish. Goals are simply a helpful tool we get to use to our advantage, on our journeys towards becoming better people...

Welcome to the very first episode of 2023! I'm still amazed that i get to do this--use my voice to share my thoughts and feelings about this crazy messy life we're all living. I ended 2022 and started 2023 with a lot of dedicated time for contemplation and introspection. I did some true soul searching and heart digging to decide what things need to be left behind in order to make room for new flowers to bloom. BLOOM. That is my word of the year--blossom! But beautiful flowers cannot grow...

This is the final episode of this season! I am eternally grateful to you for joining me on the 'Being Aloud' journey in 2022. Its been so incredible to get to share this space with you, but now its time for me to take a break (until January 10th, to be exact)! And maybe you should give yourself a break as well. Recalibrate and digest everything that happened this year so that you can fully look forward to flipping the page and crossing the bridge onto a brand new year! A very merry...

Being human in this digitally hyperconnected day and age is a tricky thing when we’re going through a season of pain or grief, regardless of what caused them, because now your problem is also everyone else’s, and when you’re in the thick of your trauma and find yourself being bombarded with other people’s opinions on the deepest and most personal wounds of your life, you become ten times more likely to doubt your choices and decisions based on emptiness. And all that doubt makes the healing...

My experience with divorce has humbled me into seeing that although my story (as with every story) was very unique and singular to me, i did not need to feel as alienated from society as i did. Because as it turns out, i was not the only one who found herself in a dead-end marriage. Sadly, other people have had to experience this very strange and traumatizing loss as well. And if not this loss, then some other pain or loss that is equally strange and traumatizing. What a lighter load i could...

On the 24th of November 2021 (one year ago 2 days from today, if you’re listening on release day), i left my marriage home and went back to live with my parents. I officially began the divorce process in April of 2022, and now, one year later, i am officially a divorcé (although, i have my reservations against the word–the title–the box ‘Divorcé’). But here i am, a year later and having finally gained enough perspective to talk about this topic with you. Because since my own experience with...

"Vulnerability brings vulnerability" is a sentence my sister always used to tell me. The more open and real we are with our communities about the imperfections of our lives, the safer other people will feel in doing the same. Just imagine how much warmer and richer our friendships would be if more people had the courage to show up as their authentic selves. In today's episode we talk about:  The idea of shame Vulnerability as the key to every meaningful connectionHow to couple wisdom with...

In today's episode, we expand upon the topic of empathy that we began last week. What a giant and bottomless subject! Here's what I know for sure: our communities could use SO much more empathy. I can only imagine how much safer and kinder our lives would be.  The main issues we discussed were:  We broke down the black-or-white society we grew up in. Black and white doesn't leave any room for our messy human reality. Black-or white invites this subconscious tendency within us to perform....

Empathy empathy empathy! What i believe is the key to safer and healthier communities. In this episode we discuss:  How our Egyptian/Arab society as embedded in us a humanized religious perspective on an 'upright life'. How this humanized religion removes the fact of our fallen humanity, and strips us of an ability to relate to other people's painful stories. How our loved ones' pain makes us uncomfortable. What it means to be empathetic. Life is one giant fruit salad! And we cannot guarantee that all the fruits we get will be fruits we love. The good days come just are surely as the bad ones do, and the quality of the life we choose is largely determined by our perspective. Remember Covid? Remember all the lessons the collective human race learned? We go back to some of those in our episode today, because I believe that (as with covid), my suffering and loss and pain have gifted me the gift of gratitude and appreciation...

Oftentimes the way we're taught to respond to our suffering is by surrendering. The old saying "it is what it is" is tossed left and right as we learn to make peace with the way our lives are unfolding. But what if we could take this surrender to the next level? What if we could actually LOVE our fate? 'Amor Fati' is a Latin phrase that literally translates as: love of fate. In today's conversation we take a deeper look at how we can practically learn to love our lives as they happen,...

Whenever we hear the word 'anger' it immediately translates in our minds as something negative. Anger is something to be avoided at all costs, because it disrupts our peace and leads us to say and do things that we later regret.  But what if we considered the infamous emotion from a new angle? What if I told you that anger can be a GOOD thing, if we changed our relationship to it?  Find me on: InstagramBlogMailing ListThe Tony George Podcastطوني جورج يقدم مساندة عملية وشخصية تنير أمامك...

A heavy day unloaded, so that maybe, you come out of it feeling a little less alone.  My friend, we're all human in this messy life--broken, un-linear, confused human beings doing their best. Maybe, if we take a step back (or ten) from Instagram perfection, we can see that somewhere deep down, we're all the same. Find me...

Our emotions are valuable and precious evidence that we are alive and have responses to the world around us. In today's episode we discuss the importance of acknowledging our continuous need for emotional healing.
